ABOUT WEEKENDS
The Annie Award-nominated WEEKENDS won both the Special Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Annecy International Animation Festival, and also won 22 top awards, including top prizes at the Warsaw Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival and Edmonton Int’l Film Festival qualifying the film for Oscar® submission four-fold, and has played in over 66 festivals all over the world to date, with many more to come. WEEKENDS is the story of a young boy shuffling between the homes of his recently divorced parents. Surreal, dream-like moments mix with the domestic realities of a broken-up family in this hand-animated film set in 1980's Toronto.
Director Bio:
TREVOR JIMENEZ is a Canadian filmmaker who has worked as a story artist for over 10 years - most notably at Pixar, Cinderbiter, Disney Feature Animation, Illumination Ent. and Blue Sky Studios. His student film "Key Lime Pie" screened at numerous international festivals including Annecy, Ottawa Int. Animation Festival, AFI Fest, Zagreb, Mike Judge's "The Animation Show vol. 4" and won the award for best animated short at AFI Dallas 2008. He currently works in the story department at Pixar while pursuing his own creative projects.
AGE OF SAIL
Google Spotlight Stories' AGE OF SAIL, which made its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, was directed by the Oscar®-winning filmmaker John Kahrs (Paperman), produced with Chromosphere by Gennie Rim (duet, June, Dear Basketball) and David Eisenmann (Pearl, Son of Jaguar) and executive produced by Karen Dufilho and Jan Pinkava. Set on the open ocean in 1900, AGE OF SAIL is the story of William Avery (played by Ian McShane), an old sailor adrift and alone in the North Atlantic. When Avery reluctantly rescues a teen (played by Cathy Ang) who has mysteriously fallen overboard, Avery finds redemption and hope in his darkest hours. AGE OF SAIL is now available on multiple platforms, was named a Vimeo Staff Pick and has received four Annie Award nominations.
