We are excited to announce artist Gian Galang's return to Nucleus for another solo exhibition. This exciting exhibition will feature a series of new paintings that highlight movement and explosive energy that is at the core of martial arts.

Gian Galang is an artist and illustrator living and working in NYC. He has created artwork for clients including Nike, Reebok, Vice, the UFC, ESPN, HBO, Criterion and Everlast. Previously, he worked as an art director in advertising at The Brooklyn Brothers NYC, Nickelodeon, and Anomaly NYC. He studied illustration and graphic design at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Galang is focused on capturing the movement and energy of his figures, utilizing bold compositions in conjunction with striking colors and abrasive textures. This is heightened by his preference for unconventional tools for markmaking, which allows for him to convey impact and speed. These qualities are perfect for bringing out the life of his subjects who are fighters and martial artists. As a martial arts practitioner himself, Galang is the perfectly suited for depicting warriors in action.
