KAPPA (河童)
"The Kappa is a Japanese yokai (monster). It was originally a water god that later lost its stature to become a monster. This painting represents the Kappa's fall and demotion. I included a dragon because they are also considered water gods.
Gozu-Tenno is a Japanese god that prevents plague. The Kappa is considered a messenger of the Gozu-Tenno."
