KETTOU (決闘)

"There are twelve animals in the Chinese / Japanese zodiac, none of which is a cat. However, in Vietnam and a few other Asian countries, the year of the rabbit has become the year of the cat. This was may inspiration for this painting. The kanji in the cherry blossoms represent each of the twelve signs of the Chinese / Japanese zodiac. However, the year of the rabbit is excluded and has a question mark in its place.

The symbols in the yellow rectangle on the left represent Aura's belongings and hand signs. Buddhism states that there are six worlds in which all living things are reincarnated. Asura lives in one of these worlds, and this world is at constant war because Asura is a Buddhist deity that enjoys combat. The small stroke in the red box in bottom left corner is the symbol of repetition, symbolizing their continuous battle."
