Jacques-Yves CousteauAC was a French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He co-developed the Aqua-Lung, pioneered marine conservation and was a member of the Académie Française. His name is synonymous with sea exploration, as he was one of the earliest figures to capture the undersea world on film and share it with the world. His contribution to sea exploration and preservation is unparalleled.

Alexandra Cousteau, the granddaughter of 
Jacques-Yves Cousteau, is a Senior Advisor to Oceana.
