Gallery Nucleus presents new work by Justin Gerard.  This solo reinterprets J.R.R. Tolkien's literary collection, The Silmarillion. Published posthumously by Tolkien's son, The Silmarillion chronicles the creation and history of the acclaimed author's world as well as the events leading up to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Gerard has meticulously surveyed and selected integral moments within the saga and captures the events through watercolors and drawings.  The result is an expansive exhibit, documenting scenes from the beginning of time to the departure of the Elves from Middle-Earth.

About the Artist:

Justin Gerard is a painter and illustrator who works in both traditional and digital mediums with a special focus on fantasy and science-fiction. Earning a BFA in painting and drawing from Bob Jones University, Gerard developed his strong artistic talents by studying many of the old masters including Rembrandt and many of the Victorian painters. He went on to form Portland Studios Inc., acting as director over a group of illustrators and animators for many projects.  Since then, the artist has extended his clientele base, having worked with many of the leading companies in the commercial arts industry including Dreamworks, Warner Brothers, Disney, Harper Collins, Penguin Books, Sony, and Mad Magaine.  Outside of his freelance work, Gerard also regularly gives lectures and drawing demonstrations.  He currently resides in Greenville, South Carolina.
