Dangerous Wands

If you're having a so-so day and just want a good o' laugh, this video really did it for me!  Imagine what life became like for Hermione after Hogwarts..

They have some hilarious one liners...enjoy!

"Sometimes, the best defense against the dark arts...is to care"

Spell of the Day:

"Crucio" - This is one of the 3 unforgivable curses.  As you saw in the video above, Hermione was almost hit with this curse.  It is never to be used as it will inflict unbelievable pain on the recipient.  Not everyone is able to perform this curse, you must reaaally mean it when you cast it.

New Behind the Scenes look at Lego Harry

Check out this new behind the scenes look at the Lego Harry Potter game due out in May.  They've included a few more screen shots and cutscenes.  The details in this game are truly impeccable and worthy of the hype.  I love that it's a family friendly two player co-op game!  There's just so few out there that don't involve shooting people/aliens/monsters with machine guns/laser beams/plasma blasters...which although entertaining, can often lead to some not so enjoyable nightmares.

Spell of the Day:

"Accio" - Summons an object to the caster, potentially from a signficant distance.  Can be useful while in the midst of playing Lego Harry Potter to summon a refreshment from your very own kitchen without having to pause the game and interrupting your in-game groove.

JK Rowling at the White House Easter Roll

JK Rowling was invited to read an excerpt from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at the White House Easter Roll.  After she was done reading, she gets asked some very tough questions by her young and discerning audience.

During her reading, I noticed that her pronounciation of "Rubeus" (Hagrid's first name) is different that from the movies. I wonder why that was never corrected in the movie version...

Spell of the Day:

"Evanesco" - Makes the target vanish.  This spell would come in very handy for the organizers of the Easter egg hunt.  Of course, the only way to make the eggs reappear is to use the counter-spell.  Hopefully those little kids did their homework.

Ellen visits the Wizarding World

Ellen Degeneres visits the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!  She takes two lucky little boys around the park where they get to drink Butterbeer, visit Dervish and Banges, tour Dumbledor's office, watch the Beauxbatons dance, and talk to the Fat Lady in the portrait.

Ellen is hilarious (as usual), accompanying the boys on a Swiffer broom instead of the more tradtional Nimbus 2000.

You will see alot more footages of the park in this video than any other videos I've seen so far. If only every visit to the park came with your very own Ellen.

After watching the video, I did start to have my first reservation about the taste of Butterbeer.  Although it looks foamy and declicious, I noticed that after the kids drink it, their reactions are cut out of the video!  They don't exactly guzzle it down like a bottle of Coca Cola and their mugs remain full in the next clip too...hmmmm

Here are some additional photos that were released on Universal Orlando.  I believe this will be part of the Forbidden Journey ride experience.

Hagrid's Hut, I think part of the Flight of the Hippogriff ride

Spell of the Day:

"Geminio" - Creates a duplicate of any object of which it is cast.  These copies do not carry any of the magical properties of the original object and will only last several hours, but imagine how much candy and butterbeer you can enjoy before it disappears from your stomach!  Enjoy the taste and no calories...brilliant!

New Art Submission from Becky Dreistadt

Check out this adorable submission from artist Becky Dreistadt!

Looks like someone is trying to get into Hedwig's food bowl and Hedwig is none too happy about that!

Hedwig is Harry Potter's loyal mail delivery snow owl ever since Book 1 when Hagrid gave Hedwig to Harry as a birthday gift.
Ever since then, Hedwig has played small but integral roles throughout the series and assisted Harry with many of his mail delivering needs.

Thank you Becky for this fantastic piece!

Origin of Name:

"Hedwig" - The Saint of Orphans that lived in Germany in the 13th and 14th century.  Means "Refuge in Battle".
Hedwig the owl has certainly seen his share of battles with Harry, ultimately making his biggest sacrifice in the Deathly Hallows.
