New Art Submission: Bannister

Voila! C'est un portrait mignon de Harry Potter par l'artiste français, Bannister!

(Google translation: Look here! It's a cute portrait of Harry Potter by French Artist, Bannister!)
Bannister has illustrated a few of his own comics in France, one of which is called Les Enfants D'Ailleurs.

This is definitely Harry in his younger years as a student, I love the over-powering lightening bolt scar on his head.
No luck hiding that sucker from prying eyes, it might as well say "Voldemort was here!"

Answer to previous Trivia of the Day:

Luna wears earrings that resemble radishes, more technicially known as Dirigible Plums.

New Art Submission: Peter Breese

The modern witch, refined and elegant.

You may recognize the artistry of Peter Breese in one of our previous posts, see here.

Always original and enchanting, this lovely depiction of Ms. Lovegood will make those Ravenclaw boys go looney for Luna.

Trivia of the Day:

What does Luna wear on her ears as earrings?

Button me up again!

Now revealing another one of our button souvenirs for the show! Free when you come in costume!

He didn't get much attention in the book, but he's a jolly happy ghost that definitely deserves to be recognized.

Putting the butter in butterbeer

What you ask is this delicious looking golden amber beverage?

Why I do believe it could be butterbeer!  In preparation of the opening reception on July 9th where we will be serving free butterbeer (yum!), we experimented with several popular recipes in order to achieve our own perfect version of this Hogwarts favorite.  Curious to see what the big hype is about? Come try it at the show and see for yourself!

New Art Submission: Tony Lombardo

Although it sounds like an oxymoron, we now have our very first glamorous dementor (aka "Glamentor" ) submission!
This piece was skillfully sketched by artist Tony Lombardo and although still a work in progress, the final will be skillfully rendered in oil.

This depiction of the dementor just might make the black cloak/hood combo the new fashion hit of the season!

Emma who?

Emma Watson being honored with an "Elle Style Icon" award---Fantastic!!

Fashion Designer and presenter of the award, Vivienne Westwood not having a clue who Emma was? ----Embarrassing!

As much as I LOVED the famous wedding gown that Vivienne Westwood designed for Carrie Bradshaw from Sex & the City (see below), couldn't she have done just a little bit of research before presenting this award to Emma?

Thankfully, Emma graciously laughed it off and accepted the award without too much awkwardness.  Now that's a classy lady =)

The famous dress by the designer

Vivienne and Emma with the award

Video of the embarassing moment

Spell of the Day:

"Serpensortia" - Conjures a serpent from the caster's wand.
Preeetty sure hurling a serpent on stage crossed Emma's mind as Vivienne was babbling about not knowing who she was....

Answer to previous Trivia of the Day:

Hagrid acquired Norbert from an undercover Prof. Quill who was trying to extract information about Fluffy

Sorcerer's Stone Cliff Notes

In case you haven't gotten around to reading the very first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, or simply just need a refresher, feast your eyes on this!

Someone linked me to  and thought it was incredibly creative.  Its basically a one page comic of the entire first book!  Artist Lucy Knisley captured all the key moments from the book and cleverly illustrated them in this imaginative story-telling format.

Its like reading the book all over again and remembering all the things that made me fall in love with the story!
